Frogtown Farm seeks applicants for the position of Executive Director. This year-round position works with the Board of Directors and is responsible for all day-to-day operations, fundraising and programs of this community-based organization. Jointly with the Board, staff and volunteers the Executive Director will carry out the mission and vision of the Farm which is the convergence of caring for the community, conservation and rehabilitating food and farming systems.
Located in the heart of the diverse and vibrant Frogtown neighborhood of Saint Paul, Minnesota, Frogtown Farm is a 5-acre, urban production, education and demonstration farm. Rooted in values of social equity, justice, and interconnectedness, this urban farm on the hill serves as a model for a multi- cultural community and a catalyst for economic development, wealth creation, community pride, and sustainability. Position
As the Executive Director of Frogtown Farm, you will shape the Farm’s growth while also establishing operating systems for long-term vitality and sustainability. The Frogtown Farm Executive Director will lead, guide, grow and manage the development, relationships and programs of Frogtown Farm.
The Executive Director responsibilities will include facilitation, implementation and oversight of all aspects of Frogtown Farm, including programming, farm operations, fundraising, communications, neighborhood engagement, stakeholder relations, administrative oversight, and personnel management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assure organizational viability and sustainability, including maintaining an organizational budget, policies and procedures as well as implementation of fundraising and project plans
Develop and implement a robust, comprehensive and multi-faceted communications plan that includes diverse platforms such as the Frogtown Farm website, partner sites, social media, and print media
Build and maintain relationships with the large and diverse group of stakeholders who have a vested interest in the success of Frogtown Farm
Develop and maintain fundraising practices including record keeping and follow-up, writing grant applications to foundations, corporations, governmental entities, and community-based organizations, developing other sources of revenue, such as crop production and venue rentals
Hire, develop, and supervise talented staff that excel as a collaborative team, are passionate about the vision and values of Frogtown Farm, and model commitment to the neighborhood and its residents
Promote active, local participation by volunteers in all areas of Frogtown Farm’s work
Required Qualifications: Demonstrated Skills and Experience
High-level management experience with a desire and/or demonstrated commitment to leading a nonprofit community-based organization
Ability to engage with and develop strong relationships with community members across social, economic, political, and cultural boundaries and to collaborate with a broad base of diverse stakeholder and community groups
Demonstrated ability for program and strategy implementation, fundraising, resource development, budgeting, financial management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate across cultures and sectors
Fluent in productivity software such as spreadsheets for budgeting and payroll needs, and working knowledge of social media platforms for publicity and fundraising
Ability to recruit, lead, develop and support a strong staff team
Ability to work effectively with a governing board of directors, to which they will report
Willingness to advocate for Frogtown Farm in the community
Preferred Qualifications and Leadership Qualities
Demonstrated commitment to community building, community development, and/or urban farming
Passion for social equity, justice, and other Frogtown Farm values
Consensus building, collective and autonomous decision-making, with the ability to understand when each is needed and/or appropriate
Inspired and inspiring visionary leader with solid management skills
A strategic thinker who collaborates in teams and is personally driven
Reporting Responsibility
The Executive Director reports to the Frogtown Farm Board of Directors.
Compensation
The salary range is $600 to $750 per week for an average of 20 hours per week depending on qualifications and experience. This part time position can develop into a competitive full-time position plus competitive benefits with time and experience at Frogtown Farm.
